Pillar Point Harbor in
Half Moon Bay
enjoys one of the most abundant
Chinook (King) Salmon fisheries in the world.
Because of its location, Half Moon Bay has
excellent access to these "King" salmon,
which can weigh between 5 and 50 lbs. In
fact, during the early months of the season,
the San Francisco charter boats make the
long boat ride south to fish the waters off
Half Moon Bay.

The early part of the season is usually
excellent fishing, and limits of fish (two
fish per angler) ranging from 5
to 25 lbs. are pretty common.
Later in the season the fish are fewer in
number, but greater in size, Late season
fish caught include fish ranging from 30 to
50 lbs, which are called “hogs” or “slugs”
because of their large size.
During Crab season, anglers aboard Huli Cat
end their day by harvesting limits of
Dungenous
Crab.
Usual departure is at 6:00 a.m. Plan
to be at the boat 45
minutes to 1 hour prior. The charter returns
by 3:00 p.m.. Fish cleaning and bait are
included. 2007 fuel prices may necessitate a
fuel surcharge. |
